Hurdy-Gurdy Schedule

Classes

Beginners (Michael Opp) Introduction to the Hurdy Gurdy and playing techniques.

Traditional Music and Technique (Scott Gayman)  A class for non-beginners to improve their playing technique for left and right hand using Traditional music.

Baroque Music (Robert Green) Exploration of the eighteenth-century repertory with emphasis on techniques specifically associated with this music.

Schedule

To get the most out of your workshop, each student chooses one series of classes for the entire weekend either BeginnersTraditional Music and Technique or Baroque.

Thursday, September 10th:  

4:00 pm Arrival and Check in. Get your Hurdy Gurdy in tune and minor adjustments with assistance from your teachers and other experts.

Scott will be available early in the afternoon for instrument set up and maintenance

6:00 pm Dinner

7:30 pm Intro to your class and workshop tunes.

8:00 pm Beginner and Trad music Hurdy Gurdy Jam session starting with your workshop tunes followed up with more Trad tunes.

10:00 pm Open Jam time.

Baroque Evening sessions arranged with your teacher.

Friday, September 11th, Saturday September 12th and Sunday September 13th

8:00 am Breakfast

9:00-11:45 am Class Morning Workshop, separate workshops for Beginners, Traditional Music and Technique or Baroque.

9:00-10:30 am set-up and maintenance (Friday only)

10:45-11:45 am Class Morning Workshop…(Friday only)

12:00 pm Lunch

1:30-2:30 pm Instrument Setup and Maintenance

3:00-5:45 pm Class Afternoon Workshop with a short break during class.

3:00 to 5:45 pm Baroque Workshop with a short break during class

6:00 pm Dinner (Note: on Friday dinner is at 6:30 pm)

8:00 pm Beginner and Trad music Hurdy Gurdy Jam session starting with a review of your workshop tunes followed up with more Trad tunes.

 

Monday, September 14th

8:00 am Breakfast

9:00-11:45 am Class Morning Workshop, separate workshops for Beginners, Traditional Music and Technique or Baroque.

12:00 pm Lunch
